Holiday Season

Jonas Brothers News 12 Comments »

The Jonas Brothers have gone on vacation!  They spent time last week in the Bahamas, enjoying the beautiful beaches of the island of Nassau.  But while it may have been vacation, the boys were still hard at work—they performed at a sold-out concert and invited the editor of Popstar magazine along for some chatting, pictures and interviews.

But they’re not escaping this winter season completely.  The Brothers recently decorated a Christmas tree for a photo shoot with People.  They smiled, they decorated, they had a good time; it was altogether filled with holiday cheer.  Joe also shared a little family tradition: wearing their pajamas inside out!

“We think if we wear them inside out, then it will snow,” Joe reported.  “We got the idea from some movie we saw when we were kids. We still do it.”

More Christmas cheer with the boys will follow as they perform on Christmas Day during the Disney parade.  The Parade—aired on ABC—will be hosted by Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.  Performances will be occurring both at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disney Land in California.  Although over 600 artists are expected to perform, the Jonas Brothers are some of the main stars of the event.

Doing Good

Nick Jonas has been working on an independent project of his own to unite all those who, like him, are affected by Diabetes.  Together with Bayer Diabetes Care, he has designed two dog-tag necklaces, one for supporters and one for those personally battling with the disease.  The latter includes medical information in case of emergency.  Inscribed on both are lyrics from the song Nick wrote about his Diabetes, entitled “A Little Bit Longer.”

A portion of the proceeds goes to the Jonas Brothers’ Change for the Children Foundation.  Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 13.  The dog tags are on sale at NicksSimpleWins.com.

Musical Loves

The boys have finally dished on their musical loves and influences!

Joe Jonas, for example, has touted Rolling Stones lead man, Mick Jagger, as an enormous influence on what he does on stage, and admits that he would love to meet him.

The Brothers recently named Coldplay’s Viva la Vida and singer Adele as their favorites of the year.

What’s in the works musically?  Well, reportedly “No Air” singer Chris Brown has been penning a few songs for them, but word is not yet out whether the boys, who are devoted to and proud of writing their own songs, have accepted them.

It was a precarious week for many Jonas Brothers fans!

After a flurry of rumors that Kevin, the oldest member of the Jonas Brothers, was quitting the band to pursue a solo career catered to an older audience, the Brothers have let us know that it just isn’t true.

On their MySpace blog, the Brothers wrote: “There is a rumour that one of us is leaving the group. Not true. We love what we are doing and hope to do it together for a long time.” The letter was signed off by each of the Brothers.

The announcement that the brothers are here to stay– together– comes shortly after the Brothers received their first Grammy nod last Wednesday: a nomination for Best New Artist. The brothers see the nomination as a “huge honor.” The nomination signifies an enormous career shift for the Brothers since their self-titled album was released last year. What was the first thing they did after hearing the good news? They toasted with cider and called Mom, of course!

Despite their fame and the recent Grammy attention, in a recent interview, Kevin Jonas admitted to still having feelings of nervousness when he’s around a girl he likes. He still gets excited around attractive women and claims that his head just “moves too fast.” However, he says, he’s not under any pressure to be tough or macho, describing himself as a “protective guy.”

And the boys haven’t let fame cloud their priorities– they’re using their name now to fight for the good causes. The Brothers recently managed to raise more money than any other celebrity after receiving $450,000 in donations in an online auction at charityfolks.com. According to the AP, the website “arranged VIP tickets and meet-and-greets in exchange for donations to the band’s Change for the Children Foundation.”

Runners-up in the race to raise charity money include Morgan Freeman, Robin Quivers and the cast of “The Sopranos.”

On December 3, the boys were on hand for the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center. They sang “Girl of my Dreams” at the traditional holiday event.

Other performances included Britney Spears, Beyonce, and Faith Hill.

And the holiday fun isn’t over yet! Word has just been released that the Brothers will be kicking off 2009 at Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve ABC special. Other performers will include Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls, Solange and Robin Thicke.

The New Year’s celebration begins Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10 p.m. ET.

Thanksgiving Day!

Jonas Brothers News 12 Comments »

The Jonas brothers hardly ever sit still, but this week they’ve been in the public eye even more than usual.

On Thanksgiving Day, the musicians were the halftime entertainment at the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys football game. (Cowboys won, 34 – 9).

They weren’t only there to support the Cowboys, despite the fact that they, too, live in the Dallas area, nor were they trying to publicize a new single or practice their dance moves.

Instead, they were advocating the annual Red Kettle Campaign, during which the Salvation Army begins its holiday donation drive. The boys hope to draw attention to this cause, which is not unlike their own charity, the Change for the Children Foundation.

On Friday the boys gave a book-signing in a Manhattan Barnes & Noble. Fans began gathering on Wednesday evening, despite the fact that the Jonas brothers would not be arriving until Friday afternoon. According to the Daily News, along with the usual autographs, tears and confessions of love, one young girl was sick all night with excitement, and another was trampled by the crowd. An ambulance was called.

The Jonas Brothers’ new book is titled Burning Up: On Tour with the Jonas Brothers. It aims to give fans a glimpse of “real life” on the road. The Jonas Brothers Book

According to the introduction of the book, the boys are sharing their “favorite memories of being on the road.” They want to “open up our lives in a special way so that you can experience the excitement and fun we get to live each and every day.”

Earlier this month, the Brothers also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, performed at the 2008 American Music Awards and won the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist award.

What do the brothers have in store next? Well, for starters, they want to meet Kanye. Good luck, boys!

Jonas Brothers Strike Again

According to Tiger Beat Magazine (May 2008 issue), Kevin Jonas loves to prank people. But he is not the only one. The other brothers also play pranks on each other. Their tour crew is not even safe.

“Pulling pranks never gets old!” Kevin tells Tiger Beat, “There’s this new one we have. When someone’s taking a shower, you freeze water– just enough so it’s not frozen but super, super cold. Then you take four cups and dump it on [the guy taking] the shower, and he just freaks out. It’s a good one!”

They wrote, “Hey everyone! We are excited for you to see our performance on Dancing with the Stars on ABC. ALSO… We have received some really sad news. Which Jonas Brother is most competitive?

Jonas Brothers News 10 Comments »

So which Jonas Brother do you think is the most “competitive” of the bunch?  You guessed it - Nick!  Check out this quote:

nick-jonas-competitive.jpg

“Nick is the competitive one!” Kevin reveals. “Like in wiffleball, he cannot lose!” Nick agrees wth Kevin’s thoughts on his attitude. “Definitely,” Nick says. “Losing is impossible for me.

He is [laid-back],” Kevin says about Nick to Popstar, “but wait till he gets a ball or a bat in his hand. There’s no one that throws the wiffle ball as hard as Nick!

Nick says that his brothers do exaggerate a little and egg him on. “We taunt him,” Kevin spills. “We’ll build it up and then he’s like, ‘What?? You’re crazy!’ Like he goes nuts!

Nick disagrees. The deal is it’s onnly happened like three times and to them, they have, like, a perception now that it happens every time. So, like, when I don’t freak out about something, they’re like, ‘Whoa! Calm down!’ And I’m like, ‘I’m fine!’

It takes all types to make up a rockin boy band.  And competitive is one of those qualities that is great to have in certain instances.
